Puppy Cam Adorableness

Hello! :) Yesterday Southeastern Guide Dogs posted on their Facebook page that Sugar and Bentley's puppies are up on the Puppy Cam! I think I screamed something unintelligible and dropped my phone (I've been waiting for this for quite a while!). I immediately had to call my mother and tell her the pups were on the cam and she had almost the same reaction! Let me tell you, those little baby dogs are the cutest things ever. They are all so playful and cuddly looking! I just want to run to Southeastern Guide Dogs right now and HUG THEM ALL. I just have to wait 10 more days...

Well, we've been puppy proofing the house and buying things she might need. The wait is so hard! For the past couple of nights I've had two consecutive dog dreams. I think I'm getting a bit obsessed.

Here's the link to the Puppy Cam so you can view the cuteness yourself:

Until later ;)

Pretty Puppy Pick Up Party! (Say that 5x Fast)

Hey there! Just a quick update, not much has happened so far. On April 9th we are scheduled to have a "Pretty Puppy Pick-Up Party", which is basically exactly what it sounds like: a party held to pick up pretty puppies! I can't wait! In a couple of weeks our AC is going down to Southeastern Guide Dogs and is picking up FOUR pretty puppies! 3 boys and 1 girl (mine!) from the same litter. I can't wait to see them!
For the party we heard that people typically bring gifts, like a baby shower. My mom and I decided that we would make a special treat for the humans and doggies present. So, yesterday we found these adorable little cookie cutters!

(I know it's sideways, sorry. I couldn't fix it. Just pretend you're a dog and turn your head to the right, okay?)

Ah! So cute! Also, I found a picture of June and I at the last meeting I attended. Our AC (who is raising June) had just brought her and her brother back from SEGD and she let me handle her. She's quite a ball of energy!

Just look at her in her adorable little cape!

In case you're wondering or don't know, June is a Black and Tan Labrador Retriever, not a Shepard, or a Rottie. It's a recessive gene that is typically present in Labs; the puppies look like this when they are a cross between a dark and light colored dog. I think it makes her look so cute!

Well, that's all I have to say for now. So, unless something major happens, talk to you on April 9th!

Home Sweet Home

Last Saturday, we had out home visit! Our AC came over and brought her two dogs, Roxy and June. Roxy is a bit older, June is only 10 weeks old. As soon as they arrived, we were bombarded by a large, fluffy, Golden Retriever, one of our neighbor's dogs. June was fascinated by the big plaything, and started pouncing on him. He was very calm though and let June crawl all over him. He didn't even complain when she started taking chunks out of his tail fur and trying to eat it. I had to intervene here.

Eventually we all went inside, leaving the neighbor dogs (at this point there were three) looking sad and lonely. I tried to get my dog, Figaro, to play with June since she's closer to his size. However, Figaro was, once again, petrified. He swiftly leaped into the safety of a nearby lap to get away from the horrid, killer beast. Poor June didn't understand why no one would play with her.

Then we signed some paperwork and talked; meanwhile, two doggies snoozed under the table and one small coward-dog snoozed in the security of a human's arms. They were here for about three hours. Then they left, leaving behind the faint smells of puppy breath and some clumps of black dog hair.

Only three more weeks until our puppy arrives!

Just the Beginning...

Hey there! My name's Allison and about a month ago I became interested in being a Puppy Raiser for Southeastern Guide Dogs. My mom and I applied quickly because we heard it could be about six months before getting a puppy. We've always been interested in the program and have talked about doing this for quite a while. It became pretty real when we were contacted by our Area Coordinator! Last night we attended our second meeting and this Saturday we are having our Home Visit. All we know about our future puppy is that she's a girl, her parents are Sugar and Bentley, and that we pick her up on April 9th! My family couldn't be more excited, although I'm not sure I can say the same about my Yorkshire Terrier, Figaro. He met some puppies at the Obedience Training last night and he pretty much had a panic attack!

Yup, this pretty much sums up his funny personality. And, yes, he *is* wearing pajamas. Don't ask.
Despite the wild look on his face, Figaro is one of the sweetest Yorkies ever. I know he will love and help the new puppy be the best she can be.

We'll be raising one of these sweet puppies for a year :)
